We launched from 70-west-marina-crystal-coast-morehead-city-nc at 07:00 on June 2, 2026 for a half-day inshore trip with one guest, Test. Over the four-hour outing that ended at 11:00, we focused our efforts around the mangrove-lined flats and estuarine channels. For roughly three hours we ran the mangroves and were treated to an incredible display of tarpon activity — roughly 50 to 60 fish rolling and jumping within sight. The fish were clearly keyed up and providing spectacular surface action, though they were not committed to the hooks. Despite not landing any hookups, the morning was fantastic: the client enjoyed outstanding sight fishing and close encounters with large tarpon throughout the mangrove edges. It was a memorable inshore trip, and a pleasure guiding Test on such an energetic day.
